QUEENSLAND'S CREDIT
REMEDY 1 SUGGESTED. (UNITED TRESS ASSOCIATION. COPTMGHT ) (AUSIIULMN-NEW ZEALAND CABLB ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 23rd November. The "Daily Telegraph's" city editor sayß: "It is all to the good that the Queensland Government should be reminded periodically that it cannot break faith without incurring the consequences. Mr. Theodore certainly did not understate the position when he said that as a result of the agitation in London his Government might be forced to pay 1 per cent, more on loans falling due, but since ho realises the position why does he not try to remedy it, and get rid of this blemish on Queensland's good name?"
The agitation in London is in consequence of the action of the Labour Government in terminating certain longterm leases of land in which English capital was invested. The point at issue is whether a Government is bound to observe the contracts of its predecessors Tinder all circumstances.
