OPENING THE FIRST SHRINE RICH AND FINE WORKS OF ART. (ONITBD PRBSS ASSOCIATION.—COPtKIiIIT.) (SYDNEY SUN CABLE.) (Received 26th November, 9 a.m.) CAIRO, 25th November. A special correspondent at Luxor says that between the first and second shrines of Tutankhamen's tomb, Mr. Howard Carter has found a number of beautiful symbolical alabaster and calcitei vases, mounted in silver and gold; royal staves, f a mace, a, sceptre, and a golden bow; and an enormous linen pall, dccOTated with innumerable golden rosettes. They are all most beautiful works oE art. The interior' of the outer shrine is I completely gilt, and is covered with numerous religious texts. On the front of the second shrine is a frieze bearing a great winged solaA- disc; and on the panels of the door are representations of Tutankhamen worshipping before Isis. The scenes are depicted in incised relief, overlaid with gold, of the finest workmanship.
