DOMINANT ELECTION ISSUES
QUESTIONS FOR CANDIDATES WIDENING THE VOTERS' OUTLOOK. (UiHTIB PRIBI ASSOCIATION. —COFIMGHT.) (itITBAUAN - NEW ZEALAND CA»« ASSOCIATION.) (Received 26th November, io a.m.) LONDON, 25th November. The "Daily Express," in an editorial article, says that the electors should not be misled. All three parties are striving to fight the election on the narrow issues of Home politics; but the supreme and dominant issue is the Empire—what it is, and what it may become. The paper suggests that electors should put the question to every candidate on Empire markets, a full Imperial tariff based on preference, and the summoning of another Imperial Economic Conference to draw up such'a tariff, based unrestrictedly on the Empire's advantage. Other suggested questions relate to the subsidising of Empire sea transport, the speeding up of Empire wireless and cable services, emigration, and British credit for Empire development.
