WEDDINGS

A wedding of much Wellington and Wairarapa interest took place at Scots Church, Seatoun, Wellington, on the 20th November, when Mr. Vie. Illingworth, only sou of Mrs. Everett, Terraces Hotel, Lake Taupo, was married to Miss Thelma M'Leod, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex. M'Leod, of Wellington, formerly of Masterton. I%i Rev. Inglis officiated. Mrs Robertson, of Rotorua, played the wedding march as the bride entered the church. The bride, who was given ■ away by her father, wore a charming gown of white satin, which was made exceptionally long with beautifully draped bodice. The heavy silk lace sleeves, which reached to the finger tips, and a. long fish tail draping from the waist. were the only relief to the goW The veil, which was carried out after the "sunburst" fashion, was moat becoming, and was trimmed with narrow white ostrich feathers, while the tulle train, which fell from the cap of the veil, was also finished with ostrich feather. The bridal bouquet, a sheaf of beautiful white roses, completed a charming toilette. Miss Jessie M'Leod, only sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and was very sweetly frocked in heliotrope taffeta made in the Early Victorian style. Her lemon-coloured .hat was relieved with a big bow of heliotrope and grey tulle. Grey shoes and stockings, and a shower bouquet of pink sweet peas and roses made a very pretty contrast to the bride, in unrelieved white.

Mr. W. Kelpe, of Wanganui, was best man.

After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. M'Leod entertained only the very intimate friends and relatives of the bride and bridegroom. Mrs. M'Leod received the guests in a very smart navy satin grenadine frock and black hat with navy ospreye. Mrs. Evereth, mother of the bridegroom, waa wearing champagnecoloured silk jersey cloth and smart hat. After the wedding breakfast, Mr. and Mrs. Illingwortli left for the north by tne Auckland express. The bride travelled in a dainty dove grey satin marocam frock, and small electric blue georgette hat, with wrap coat of fawn trench satin cloth.

At Holy Trinity, Gisborne, on 21st November) Canon Packe solemnised the marriage of Myrtle, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Thomson, of Gisborne, and Geoffrey, eldest son of Mr and Mrs. C. Gordon. The church was prettily decorated by friends of the young couple. The bride entered the church 01* the arm of her father, wearing a beautiful frock of ivory charmer se and georgette trimmed with beads. The veil was of embroidered Brussells net, held in place by a wreath of orange blossoms. The bridal bouquet was of white roses and^maidenhair fern, with tulle and ribbon streamed The bridesmaid, Miss Yolande Thomson, sister of the bride, wore a very pretty frock of shell pink crepe de chine, with bead trimming; her bouquet was. of pink sweet peas and maidenhair fern, with pink tulle streamers. Mr. R, Ferguson, of Wellington, was best man. The mother of the bride wore a cream silk frock, with silk stitching and braiding, and hat of deep pink and. white heather. The bridegroom's mother was in a smart tailored costume with saxe blue hat. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the residence of the bride's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon left later for Napier and Palmerston North, the bride's going away dress being of vieux rose, with fawn velour coat and hat to match.

A wedding of local interest was that solemnised at Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth, between Kura Howard only child of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Allison, of Greymouth, and George Norman Kyngdon, of Wellington, formerly of Greymouth. The bridal gown was of ivory brocade crepe de chine, made with a long fitted bodice and petalled skirt, and a misty veil of tulle, daintily band-worked and bound to her head with a coronet of orange blossoms was worn She carried a shower bouquet of "hothouse blooms. The bridesmaid was Miss Allison, 'of Rangiora, a cousin of the bride who wore jade green georgette prettily draped. A bouquet of sunset shaded roses and sweet peas emphasised the touch of colour which adorned her hat of silver grey. After the ceremony at the church a number of guests were entertained at the residence of the bride's parents. Mrs. Allison received her guests, wearing a taffeta frock of navy blue patterned with a narrow white stnpe, and a chic hat of blue. When the bride and bridegroom left .subsequently for their wedding trip Mrs Kyngdon wore a tailored costume and a smart little hat to tone.
