PERSONAL MATTERS
The_Rev. M. Diamond, Rabbi of the IJunedm Jewish congregation, has resigned, and proposes to go to South Africa, leaving next week. Indifferent health in' New Zealand (states "The Posts Dunedin correspondent) is the reason for the rev. gentleman's decision to try a new country.
_ The death took place early this morning of Mr. John MacMenamen, at the af e l m' manager and part-owner of the Terawhiti Sheep Station. The late Mr. MacMenamen will be well remembered by many at the time of the Penguin wreck, for his generous hospitality of the survivors. He retired some ten years ago, and has been living since that tune at Tiber street, Island Bay. He was a keen bowler, and took a great interest in gardening. He is survived by his widow and one daughter.
Mr. John C. M'George, who died in Duuedin on Thursday, was born at Gisborne, Victoria, sixty-one years ago. He came to New Zealand (states "The Post's" Dunedin correspondent) with his parents in the ship Golden Age in his infancy. His parents settled in Dunedin and Mr. M'George remained here until he was about twenty years of age, when he went to Melbourne. There he assumed a responsible position during the time the cable tramway was being installed. He remained in Melbourne for several years, then returned to Dunedin and began practice as a consulting engineer. He had a very wide connection, particularly at the time of the golddredging boom, about twenty years ago. He was one of the original shareholders in the Electric Gold Dredging Company at the Kawarrau. _ Mr. M'George took n great interest in mining operations throughout the Dominion, and with his brothers began a dredging company at Waikaka.
