The House of Lords has awarded tho Standard Oil Company, of New York, £111,235 damages against the Clan Line of steamers for loss of cargo aboard the Clan Gordon, a turret-built ship which turned turtle and sank on a voyage from New York to China. 1 The Standard Oil Co. . were originally awarded £98,000 by the lower Court of Scotland, but the Court of Session upset ■ the judgment, which the House of Lords has now restored with an increased award.
