(Received 24th Noveniber, 9 a.m.)
• ■ TOKIO/ 23rd- November. Press comment on the United States Supreme' Court decisions in regard to land laws,' .is generally dignified and reserved. The "Chugai Shogyo" regrets the evidence of racial discrimination, which is inconsistent with humanity, justice, and benevolence, to which the American people and Government are traditionally pledged. The "Kokumin" advises the Government to redouble its efforts to settle the immigration question, because Japanese and American friendship will never, be permanently cemented until tho spirit of discrimination i 6 eliminated.
The Supreme Court upheld the'land laws of the States of California and Washington, by which aliens ineligible for citizenship cannot own stock in a land-owning corporation. Aliens who cannot own or lease land are barred from entering into contracts with landholders £or the division of crops.
