The Grovesend Steel and. Tinplate Company of Gorseinon, near Swansea, in Wales, has become the largest producer of sheet and "tinplates in Great Britain, through a combination of industries, at present involving an additional outlay of about ■ 3,500,000 dollars, declares a correspondent of the "New York Times." Another merger in contemplation is likely to require an additional capital running into 15,000,000 dollars.

Their latest deal embraces the purchase of the Duffryn Steel and Tinplate Works at Morriston. the Mardy Tinplate Works at Gorseinon, and the Dynevor Tinplate Works at Pantyffynnon. The purchase of the three works mentioned increases the number of the Grovesend Company's steelworks to three, with a capacity of 6000 to 7000 tons a week, their tinplate mills to fifty-four, and their sheet mills to twenty-two. The Grovesend Company own the Amman Tinplate Works, the Hendy Tinplate > Works, Messrs. William Lewis and Sons' works, at Gorseinon, the Cambria Tinplate Works, the Bryngwyn Steel Works, and the .Bryngwyn- Steel and U-alvanising Works.
