EASTBOURNE PICNIC GROUNDS
The general manager reported' to the Eastbourne Borough Council last wening that-a new crickefc.pitch had. been laid down early in the month on : the Recreation Ground, and,the outfield had been, top-dressed and sown.' It was 'further stated that a well had been sfink in Muritai Park, and it a windmill «\vas erected there would be no difficulty in getting water for the Recreation Groiznd. By the placing of storage tanks ajt a height of 30ft, sufficient pressure would be obtained to supply the pavilion iand also to irrigate the playing area. ; The tennis courts continue to be well patronised, and reservations were being consistently made in the city under 'the rule recently adopted for the purpose. During the coming month, it is; intended to construct a proper approach from Jhe beach to the ladies' dressing room, the track having been^ washed away .during the winter .gales. •• ' The General Purposes Committee' recommended that the . matter of hot .water supplies for picnickers be left in the 'hands of the general manager; for immediate action. In this direction it is proposed to erect a brick furnace in the vicinity of tho paviliou and tejnnis court*. i ■ '; ■
