SHORTT—STAPLES.

A wedding of much interest wm that solemnised, at St. Aidan's Church, Eastbourne, on Wednesday afternoon, between Mr. Eric Shortt, eon of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Shortt, of Muritai, and Miss Violet Staples, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Staples. The ceremony was performed by the vicar, the Rev. 0. Stent, M.A., and the service was choral, the bridegroom being the church organist. The church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride and bridegroom, pale pink and heliotrope, flowers being used as well as white. These colours were the keynote of the wedding. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of white crepe beaute, with touches of pink, and a long train lined with pink. Her beautiful veil was that which had been worn by her mother, and she carried a bouquet of white and pale pink roses and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Lita Halse, Miss Vera Shortt, and Miss Joyce Staples. They wore frocks of pink and heliotrope, with bouffant panels of pink, and carried bouquets of pink and heliotrope sweet peas. Mr. Dudley Shortt was the best man, and Mr. David Perry the groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at "Pembery," the home of Mr. and Mrs. Shortt, where a large number of guests assembled, and the wide, lawns were found a very delightful spot to linger' in. The usual toasts were honoured, th 3 Mayor of Eastbourne (Mr. Mather) proposing the health of Mr. and Mrs. Shortt. Mrs. Staples, mother of the bride, wore a gown of black satin, beaute and black hat; Mrß. Shortt, mother of the bridegroom, was in electric blue with overdress of embossed georgette in same colourings and a hat en suite. Later the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon, the former wearing a three-piece costume in grey and a hat to match. In the evening a dance was held at "Pembery," and a large number of guests attended and had a most enjoyable time.
