COLLEGE ATHLETES

TO-MORROW'S CHAMPIONSHIPS.

The secondary schools amateur athletic championships, which were ptstponed last Saturday on account of unfavourable weather, are to be licid at Athletic Park to-morrow. With the leading athletes from all the local colleges as the competitors the sport should be of a very high order,- particularly as a number of the students have recently broken records at the colleges. The championship will be decided on the aggregate points scored in - the three grades of competition—senior, intermediate, and junior—and the college gaining the highest aggregate will hold the Dr. M Evedy Shield for one year. Last year a very high standard was shown at the sports, but it is fully expected that performances will be even better to-morrow, potable among the competitors will be C. H. Jenkins, who recently established two new records at Wellington College, and who is already being spoken of as a probable New Zealand representative at big gatherings in the near future. The programme is to be commenced in the morning, when a number of events will be decided, but the main attractions will be reserved for the afternoon proceedings, in order to give the public an opportunity of witnessing the splendid advance which is being made athletically in the secondary schools. In the event of favourable weather the gathering should be the best of its kind ever held in the Dominion.
