LODGE MEETING
The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Combination Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.0. F., was held at Johmonville this week P.G. Bro. W. H. Doyle presiding. The district officers (DID.G.M. Bro P. M. Smith, D.S. Bro. W. I. Clark _and D,T. Bro^A, C. Blairhpaid-an offi! cial visit, and received a most enthusiastic welcome. E.G. Bro. Doyle invited the district officers to perform the ceremony of initiating. seven candidates into the Order, which was carried out in most impressive manner. In his reply to the welcome accorded the visitors, the Deputy District Grand Master apologised lor the absence of the D.G.M. (Bro F J. R. Gledhill), who is at present in'the liawkes Bay district. He congratulated the lodge- on the progress sliown, and trusted that great strides "would be made in the future. Loyal Combination is the wealthiest lodge per member in the Dominion, a fact^which caused much satisfaction to the members when announced Blair (D.T.) also replied, his remarks being chiefly confined,to an appeal to the younger members of the lodge, and more especially to the newly-initiated brethren, to take an active interest in the affairs of the lodge and the Order generally. The Manchester Unity was the only Order in the Dominion which paid sick pay tq its soldier members while on active service during the Great War, and also kept, them good on the* books of their respective -lodges. The newlyelected officers were installed by D D - GUI. Bro. Smith. At the conclusion of business .the visitors were entertained at supper, and a most pleasant and profitable meeting terminated at 10.30 p m
