"KING OLAF."
■Sir Edward Elgar wrote "King Olaf" in 1896 for the North Staffordshire Festival, and it proved a great success. It is • based upon the "Heimskringla," a collection of sagas of the King 3of Norway, written by the Icelander, Snoree Sturlesson about 1150." The cantata will be performed 7at the Town Hall on Saturday by the Royal Choral Union, under the conductorship of Mr.. H. Temple White. The soloists engaged are as follow : Soprano, Miss Ethel Osborne, of Brisbane; tenor, Mr. Herbert Carter, Palmerston North; and baritone, Mr. William Watters, also of Palmerston North. The final rehearsal will take place at the Town Hall at 7.45 to-mor-row night, when only those taking part will be admitted. A supply of tickets will be on sale at The Bristol to-mor-row, where the box plan can be inspected. ■ .
