CHANGEABLE WEATHER

From a dull outlook thi s morning, the weather conditions became much brighter later in the day, but a continuance of sunshine is no certainty. The Director of the Meteorological Office (Mr. D. C. Bates) stated to-day that atmospheric pressure had increased everywhere, and southerly breezes had prevailed. Although the weather had been unsettled and cloudy at times, only casual showers had been experienced in various parts of the country. The forecast was for little change at the present time, but the barometer was due to fall again shortly. In the meantime southerly breezes, backing by east to north, northwards of Hokitika and Lyttelton, and veering by west to north elsewhere, were to be expected, with the weather cold and changeable, and showers, particularly on the east coast of the North Island and in Southland.
