Sir William MacEwen, ex-president of the British Medical Association, opened a new anatomy department of the University in the' presence of the -Medical Congress delegates. The building is designed to accommodate 600 students, and cost £70,000. It is the gift of the State Government. ,
. At a Subsequent reception to the delegates, Dr. G. A. Syfne, president of the Congress, delivered ah address on the ravages of disease, and the urgent necessity for effective research work to combat it.
