BUILDING IN THE CITY
During October 134 applications for building permits, covering the erection ot new premises and also alterations and repairs to existing premises, were approved of by the City Council, the estimated value of tho work named in the applications being £114,684. That sum was divided up among th e various city districts as follows:—City £45,282 Melrose £34,2141, Northland £4646, Wades*£?7 43> °ns!ow £?125' ' Karori £5117, Miramar £9630. The city figure includes that for the Murphy street swimming baths, but no building of outstanding magnitude catches the eye on running down the list. Sixty-three new houses, one fairly large factory, and a score or s 3 motor sheds and garages helD along to the total of 134 permits granted
