SCOTTISH SOCIETY'S SOCIAL.
The social and dance held by the Scottish Society and the Pipe Band of Wellington in the Concert Chamber on Saturday evening proved most successful. The floor was crowded, and the music was of the best, and on several occasions Hie Highland pipers. rendered selections for the dances. The programme was sustained by songs and musical items, quite a feature being the rendering of Scottish songs by Mrs. G. Savege. accompanied on the" piano'"by Mrs. M'Millan. A concertina selection by Mr. Wetherspoon and a sailor's horn, pipe by Miss E. Year and Master R. Brown were also highly appreciated, while the society's troupe of juvenile dancers, among whom were some new arrival from Scotland, delighted everyone with their exhibition of Highland dancing. An excellent supper was provided by the ladies' committee, and dancing was continued till midnight, when the sinking of "Auld Lang Syne" brought the function to a close.
