RUGBY FOOTBALL
BOYS' INSTITUTE CLUB.
The end of the season for Rugby football was celebrated at the Boys' Institute by a very large gathering of boys representing all grades of the Rugby code, and a very successful social evening was spent. The entertainment took the form of a supper provided by the director, Mr. J. W. Butler, and musical items made up an enjoyable programme. Those present included:— Messrs. G. A. Troup (president Boys' Institute), W. A. Parton (vice-president, Boys' Institute Rugby Club), J. Prendeville (chairman Wellington Rugby Union), and C. C. Odlin .(president Rotary Club), Mrs. C. C. Odlin, and Mr. J. B. Hopkirk (headmaster Brooklyn School).
During the evening speeches were made by Messrs.. Troup, Odlin, Prendeville, Hopkirk, and Butler. Medals were presented by Mrs. C. C. Odlin to the most improved player in each team since the beginning of the. season, as follow: Seventh A grade: V. Dv Chateau (special medal for captain),, J. Bailey (most improved back) 3 C. Green (most lmprovei O< Lachore (best all-round player). Seventh B grade: H. Athea (most improved player). Seventh C grade: V. Posselt (most improved player). Sixth grade: F. Tyson (most improved player). Tribute was paid by Mr. Prcndoville to the Seventh A grade team. He stated that this team was morally the winner, of the championship,- but through having inadvertently played a boy over age in the first match of the season, the championship had been taken from thorn. The pleasant evening terminated with the singing of thi National Anthem.
