CHILD RUN DOWN BY A CAR

GISBORNE, 12th November. A motor fatality occurred this afternoon, the victim being a six-year-old girl named Mary Rowan. A party of children had alighted from a tram car. and were crossing to the side of the road iii_ front of the tram when a, motor-car, driven by Miss Orr, of Te Karaka, passed the tram car and struck the child. She was taken to a private hospital sufforinc; from a fractured skull, ami other injuries to her head, 'and died a few hours later. -
