CHRTSTOHURCH, This Day Eighteen bands have entered for Iho Christchureh band competition, to commence on 18th February. The quickstep is in two grades—A, two test selections; B, one test and one own choice.

The following have entered in the A grade :" Queen Alexander (Wanganui) First Canterbury Mounted Rifles (Ashburton), St. Kilda (Dunedin), City of Sydney (formerly Redfern), Woolston, Timaru, Invercargill, Hibernian, Invercargill Battalion, and Municipal Silver (Bunanga).. The following have entered in the B Grade: Hastings Citizens, Greymouth Municipal, Christchur'ch Tramways Oamaru Municipal, Dunedin City Tramway, Nelson, Nelson Garrison, Dunedin Artillery, Inyercargill Battalion, New Brighton, Kaiapoi. _ Invercargill Battalion will decide later in which grade it will compete The majority of. bands has also entered for the hymn selection . Large entries have been received for the solo, , trio and quartette competitions. The prize money, £1500, is a record for any band contest m Australia or" New Zealand The selection solos, trios, and quartettes will take place in King Edward Barracks, the quickstep on the Metropolitan Trotting Ground. Dr G Q Bradshaw is judge of the test selections! and music m quickstep; Mr F W G M'Leod, Napier, will judge the solos! trios, and quartettes. The military judges have not yet been appointed-
