EMPRESS THEATRE.
A particularly fine human interest story is the star attraction at the Empress Theatre this week. It is the story of a Mining town, entitled "The Little Cburch Around the' Corner," and has been cleverly, arranged to cover a number of incidents:in the lives of two generations. :" Photographically it is a- very ifine piece-.of work, while the incident* , throughout : arer unusually strong. The second generation, like their parents, .take up-the work of the mines, and in one portion of these there is one day a disaster; a'portion caving in, and a large number '"of: men is entombed. There are some very appealing .'scenes .in this period- of the picture, wives, daughters, and lovers waiting at the pit-head while men 'work iv : feverish haste' to rescue their comrades. ■ 'Leading them is the young minister of the little church, and'there Is a thrilling-episode-where he saves the mine owner from the anger of the mob. It is a fine picture, with a touching romance., A good .supporting programme and excellent renderings by the large orchestra ma|e the"entertainment a wholesome and enjoyable one. ■'-
