AN EXTRACT MINUTE

In our issue of th c 4th September we published portions of a letter written by the Rev. Robevt Wood to the Rev. W. J. Comrie as Moderator of the Wellington Presbytery, in which the statement appeared that Mr. Wood had received a partial extract minute of the proceedings of Presbytery which the letter referred to as being falsified by suppression. This statement, it has been represented to us, has been regarded in some circles as conveying a reflection upon the Rev. R. Inglis, the Presbytery clerk, by whoni the extract minute was made. We have now had Ihe opportunity of seeing tlie original minute, and it shows that the material portions of the extract correspond Precisely • with the original, the only difference being that the original gives the names of the proposer and seconder of the resolution,.while the extract says: It was resolved,", etc., without giving the names of the propaser and seconder. We are assured by Mr,. In^lis and his friends, and have had produced ko us Presbyterian authorities on procedure which appear to show that there is no definitely established practice, and that extracts of Presbytery minutes are very frequently given in the form given in this case. We need hardly say that our publication of the letter was not in the .least intended to convey any reflection upon the Rev. Mr. Inglis.
