EXTENDING A TRAMWAY

HOKITIKA, 2nd November. Yesterday .afternoon at Waitaha Bluff, a successful blasting operation resulted in the removal of the face of a steep hillside to enable the. tramway or' Stuart and Chapman, fctd., to be carried on. , About sc\vt of gelignite was used. A representative of Nobels, Ltd., supervised the operation. ThiS tramway now extends 10^ miles from the Roes railway station, and includes the erection of bridges over the Mikonui and Waitaha Rivers. The latter, just completed, is over ten chains in length. The tramway is now within twenty chains of the magnificent f o r. eat of Wuitiiha, over which the company holds sawmill area licensee.,
