"OLD AND CONSTANT FRIEND"

VICTORIA LEAGUE'S TRIBUTE TO

MASSEY.

(SPECIAL TO PRESS ASSOCIATION.)

(Received 2nd November, 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, Ist November. Mr. Massey has received from the Victoria League an ornate address, extending a most cordial welcome as "an old and constant friend, and a trusted representative of the- Dominion to which we are linked by the closest possible ties." The address continues: "We remember with deep feeling how, throughout the dark years of strife, not only how gallant sons of New Zealand fought unceasingly for the Empire, but how the Victoria Leagues in the Dominion shower-ed gifts upon the sufferers by the war. We are very grateful for the unfailing kindness with which the sister leagues in New Zealand have welcomed the men and women we have been privileged to commend to their care. . We know how you steadfastly upheld the cause of truth and justice; and we thank you and our brothers and sisters overseas.'

A covering letter identifies Mrs. Massey with the presentation.
