It is estimated that from January, 1919, to August, 1923, x the miners in the Newcastle and MaitJand fields have lost £2,647,725 in wages, owing to strikes. Altogether there were 1344 stoppages, and 920 days were lost. The tonnage lost to the ports is set down as 4,985,945 tons. SYDNEY, 31st October. Work at the Aberdiire Central Colliery has been resumed. The men's six leaders state that they do not regard the j coal position as serious, as in most of the stoppages the men have acted on their own initiative.
