PARAMOUNT THEATRE. ! "The Shock," the principal feature 1 at the Paramount Theatre, will be finally screened to-day. Up . till' within a few minutes of the concluding scenes the title is somewhat enigmatical, but the whole thing is explained by the occurrence of one of the most disastrous I eyenta in American history. Another picture is "Partners of the Sunset " a story of ranch life in America. Mr. U limner plays a 'cello solo, and there is special music. ! "AROUND'THE WORLD IN 80 MINUTES." One of the most remarkable pictures ever seen in Wellington will be screened ' to-morrow and all the week at the Paramount Theatre. "Round the World in ■ 80 Minutes" is entirely a New Zealand ] production, the film being finished' off in Wellington. The photographer of this film travelled with a party of tourists from Wellington through the Panama Canal to New York, thence to London, across to France, through Germany, back to Southampton, through the Suez : Canal via Australia to New Zealand this • wonderful picture takes the onlooker all ' over irr} world while he or she is sitting j-mfortably in the theatre. The director has also managed to weave a • little humour into his story. One of the ' main features of the picture is the workings of the Panama Canal. Some fine views have been obtained of the great lock with its huge gates. In support of this fine picture is a Clyde Cook special comedy, entitled "High and Dry," and a Topical Gazette. Excellent I'music will be suplied by the orchestra. An extra attraction will be Winifred la France, who also commences a season to-morrow. She is a comedienne whose dashing style and winning personality take the audience by stqrm from her first entrance. Smartly dressed, her freakish gowns will cause a mild' stir amongst the ladies, who are advised, however, not to copy them for street wear. Some really catchy songs, a tuneful ballad or two, and some wonderful impersonations of children and their sayings, together with witty quips arid, stories, _ make up a distinctly versatile repertoire. Miss la France will also < present on this occasion her wonderful scenic super-spectacle, "The .Siren of the Deep." Seats may be reserved at the Utility or the theatre.
