WORK AT RICGARTON

CHRISTCHTJRCH, This Day. Conditions were very mild for training at Riccarton this morning.

Royal Star, outside the course proper, did a mile and a quarter, brought home by Jazz over the last nine furlongs, in 2miri. x

Inside the trial grass track Pilliewinkie did half a mile in 55sec at the end of a useful round. Castellan did half a mile in 00 l-ssec.

The remainder of the work was done on the plough. Barn Owl and Owlescombe covered three furlongs in 38 3-5 sec, Tukia three easily in. 42sec. Kukume 1 went once round, doing the last three furlongs in 40sec. Cerberus jumped four hurdles at a sound pace.. Most of the other horses were given steady to half-pace work: Yesterday's 'arrivals, including Scion, Quest, Gazeworthy, Glaive, Kilbird, Little River, Peneus, Kiki, Lake Uru, Chimera, Fool's Paradise, Vagabond, Rational, and Kilmere did steady pacing. To-day's ■ arrivals from the North were: Rouex, Kalakana, Sir Fanciful, and Lockson.
