EMPRESS THEATRE.
It is rarely that the exploitation' on the film of classic themes reaches co high a level as that attained in "Theodora," now screening at the Empress Theatre. It is modelled on the drama that Sardou -wrote for Bernhardt, and which was played here on the legitimate stage come twenty years ago with Tittel Brune. Rita Jolivet is an inspired "Theodora," and the supports are so good that it is hard to individualise, but the "Marcellus" (Mariano Bottini) is outstanding. The splendid orchestra plays excellent and suitable selections.
