CLEANING A SWITCHBOARD
CAUSES DEATH OF A COUNCIL

CHEISTCHUECH, 29th Oct. An inquest was opened this afternoon in connection with the death of Frederick Manhire, a mairied man who died on Sunday night as a result of shock and burns received through coming in contact with a live wire in the City Council power house on Sunday morning. A brother of deceased said that he spoke to deceased in the hospital. Deceased said to him :"I have got my lot. It was the council's fault ; the juice was all supposed to be switched off." He told witness that he had just started to clean the switchboard when he received the shock. Deceased also said that the doors were left unlocked for the men to go in and clean switchboards. The inquest was adjourned.
