ANNUAL MEETING.

The report of the Scottish Society and the Pipe Band of Wellington, presented at the annual meeting, showed that the cash credit at the bank had increased by £89, and is now £265. It was stated that all the Town Hall gatherings had been successful.

Another financial activity of the society was the putting into operation of the rule which reads: " To help necessitous and deserving countrymen, who, through misfortune, old age, or illhealth, are unable to help themselves." The amount raised for the benefit of immigrants and others in need of assistance, but not charity, ran into three figures. Ninety-eight new members were elected last year. Special reference was made to the good work of the ladies' committee. v The following officers have been elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Hon T. W, Hislop, M.L.C; chief, Captain Charles M'Arthur; chieftains, Messrs. L. M'Kenzie, Q. Lachlan; treasurer, Mr. N. M'Lean; secretary, Mr.. W. E. Boyd; assistant secretary, Mr. C. Campbell; committee, Messrs. B, Anderson, C. Stewart, H. Hands, J. Lothian, J. S. M'Dougall, H. Stokes, W, Needham; ladies' committee, Mesdames Needham, Seaman, Bradshaw, and Collins ; drum-major, Mr; Colin Campbell-drum-sergeant, Mr. J. M'Lellan; pipemajor, Mr. W. G. Patterson: pipesergeant, Mr. A. Kirkpatrick.
