Brooklyn Club was declared open by the Rev. L. M'Masters, who addressed a, keen and large attendance. Lvall Bay also opened in promising circumstances. Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P. (Mayor) declared the courts open. Before declaring the courts officially open, and serving the first ball, which landed in a neighbouring property, he congratulated the club on its independence of spirit and enterprise in making its own financial arrangements. He said that the City Council intended to put down yet more courts when they could obtain the necessary ground, and that also more encouragement would be given in the future to clubs generally, than had been done in the past. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies' committee. There was no special ceremony at Highland Park, where the season was also opened.
■ ( The official opening of the Miramar South Tennis Club took place under ideal conditions. There was a good attendance of players and spectators, and Mr. R. M'Keeii, M.P., as president of the club, performed the opening ceremony, and remarked on the progress of the club, which was only entering its second season. He dwelt briefly upon the work that had yet to be done, and said that he anticipated tuat club being second to none when this was completed, which would be very shortly.
