BASEBALL

GAMES AT MIRAMAR PARK.

•Teams from St. Patrick's College were tried out against other Baseball Association teams at Miramar Park on Saturday afternoon, with a view to choosing representatives for the competition which is to be inaugurated. During the afternoon some excellent play was witnessed, a good deal of credit being due to the work of the coaches. The college players showed up splendidly in fielding. Specially smart'was the work of Uniake (2 runs), who struck as first baseman. He made no mistakes. O'Connor (3 runs) and Jeffreys were also fine, whilst M'Carthy arid Kelly showed clean ground work. Of their opponents, Doherty batted well, and scored 3 runs. Krebs (2 runs) was a keen field, as were Barry, Crawford, and M'Carthy. Mr. Saul fcolomons umpired the game, which was won by B teatn, 13 runs to 12. In the second game the coaches took charge. S. Cooper pitched well, whilst D. Cooper Goodson, M'Sherry, and Hura showed promise. M. Pitt should make a good pitcher—with practice. Hyman was a trifle erratic, But should do well later on.
