GIRLS' COLLEGE
HELP BY PARENTS' ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the executive committee of the Wellington Girls' College Parent 3. Association was held on Friday evening when Mr. G. Mitchell occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance oi members.
The statement of receipts and expenditure showed that after contributing £167 towards the new tennis court and other improvements, there remained a balance in hand of £53 13s Id. It was decided the Board of Governors should be asked to proceed with the erection of the wire netting fence around the new tennis court without any further delay. *■• J The meeting considered what steps should be taken to assist in the beautfflcation of the grounds surrounding the site or the new Girls' College, and for providing playing areas. ' The Ladies' Auxiliary Committee will be called together for : the purpose of considering the best means of raising a substantial sum of money to help in connection with the work mentioned. In order that operations may be carried out to some general plan, it was suggested that the Board of Governors should be asked to define the area which will be available tor the girls' grounds. A suggestion was made that the association might also help in tree planting along the boundary, and other parts of the area. A report will .be made by the Forestry Department, which also offered to supply the necessary trees a.t the minimum expense. A donation of £5 was made towards the prize fund, and it was left to the principal of the college to decide in which way the amount can be used to the best advantage.
