TRAIN ROBBERY
FOUR OF CREW KILLED
BANDITS ESCAPE WITH VALU-
ABLES.

NEW YORK, 11th October. At Ashland, Oregon, bandits flagged a. train, shot and killed the onginedriver and fireman, and dynamited a safe m the express car. They killed the mail clerk and then lost courage and fled, lhe engine had just cleared a tunnel and the coaches within the tunnel were filled with smoke. The explosion caused a pamc, and several passengers were injured in the rush.
A message from San Francisco says tnafc four bandits escaped i n a highpowered motor-car, with the registered mail, the value of which has not yet been determined. The bandits in cold blood shot four of the train crew without givuig them an opportunity to know what they were facing. Posses are searching the countryside, which is mountainous and unpopulated. The rai.way authorities have offered 2500 dollars reward for their apprehension
