EMPRESS THEATRE.

As a spectacle, as an educational film, •s a scenic revelation, and as a scientific ma.rvel, the picture "Hunting Big Game in. Africa," now showing at the Empress Theatre, is without equal. The camera man who "shot" the film must have been a man of iron nerve, fqv it requires no little hravery to atand and photograph a -wild animal as it charges down. Mr. H. A, Snow has given, us a pciture papked with thrills; he depicts animals in thejr natjva haunts; he shows us giraffes in their natural element; liong in repose; baboons; wild elephants in stampede; mother "rhinos" and their exuberant young; vultures feeding on a carcass; leopards, hippopotami, zebras, birds, and hundreds of other animals and birds for which Africa is famous. The element of risk in filming this record of jungle life is always apparent, and the audience is indeed indebted to the intrepid explorer for the insight gained into the customs and natural history of the wilds. Native, tribesmen are also shown, and very fiercelooKing specimens they are too, in their war-paint. As a lassqn in geography and tribal manners, the film is invaluable. It is safe to say that the picture will attract bumper houses at all sessions. It must be actually seen to be properly appreciated, as words fail to deßcribo the danger ar,d magnjfieence of it. Also on the prpgrajmme" are Xeatrice Joy, Richard Dis, and John Bowers, heading a fine cist, in a powerful domestic drama, "The Poverty of Eiches." The Empress Orchestra, under Mr. Matt, Bjxpn, renders 3 gne selection of musical gems. The. bill is recommended to old and young alike.
