A FALL FROM A BEAM

Fatal injuries were received by a mid-dle-aged labourer named John Gore, a married man 52 years of age, who fell from a beam, on which he was working at the new theatre, under course of construction in Courtenay place. It seems that he wag standing nn the beam and assisting to lift a section of the crane. When it was being raised, the crane struck the ' beam, with the result that the deceased lost his balance and fell to the ground. He was admitted to the hospital about 4 o'clock, but the injuries to his body and spine proved so serious, that, in spite of all that could be done, he died about 10.30 o'clock that evening. It is stated that the deceased, strangely enough, about twenty years ago, helped in the, erection of the old building which has been demolished, to give place to the theatre. Gore resided at the King's Private Hotel. An inquest will be held.
