South Wellington defeated V.M.C.A. B afe Wakefield Park by 2 goals to 1. As was" the' case on other playing areas on Saturday, • the state of. the ground considerably affected the standard of play, but,-nevertheless, a creditable display of football was given, both teams making the-game open and very willing. Early in "the game Wellington South displayed better combination than their opponents, and consistently attacked V.M.'s goal, but without success Young Men retaliated, and Wetherapoon sent in a dangerous shot, which the South Wellington", goalie saved by tipping it over the bar. South Wellington returned to the offensive, and as a result of a central attack; Bobbins scored. Shortly before ♦he spell ended the same player again scored, and at half-time the score was • South Wellington 2, V.M.C.A. 0. In the second half the Y.M. backs showed to better advantage, and there was more Combined,work in the team. Half-way through _, the spell Wetherspoon headed in .the ball, the result of a comer kick taken "KjfJlilaom.
