HOCKEY
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. =. ■ • Matters in connection with the control of hockey were discussed at a meeting of the Wellington Hockey Association last evening, when Mr. J. M'Kenzie presided. Messrs. R. L. Thompson, L. Butcher, J. Whithair, Needham, Morpeth, Burton, Martin, and M'Alistev ako were present.
The secretary of the New. Zealand Hockey Association wrote expressing its satisfaction at the arrangements made by the local association for the North y. South Island fixture on 18th August last* Begret was expressed at the finam cial loss sustained, but as a remedy it was proposed by Mr. Thompson that the New Zealand Hockey Association be a«k. Ed to .defray half the loss. The motion was carried.
Tha sum of two guineas has been returned to the association following upon its withdrawal from the shield competition. , .
It waa decided, on the motion of Mr. Thompson, that the championship games conclude next Saturday. The condition of Newtown, Park ground. drew . forth a motion' from Mr. Thompson, which, being carried, authorised the committee to write to the City Council asking. if it wore possible to drain the Park during the summer months.
