THIRD TEST TEAM
Having won the Bret two Tests the New Zealand selectors decided to give other players of promise a trial in the third Test, to be played at Wellington on Saturday week. They again picked twenty players, of whom only one, Lucas, has already played in the New Zealand team this season. Four Wellington players are included—"Doc" Xicholls, H. E. Nicholls, Porter, and Swain.
In announcing the twenty players, Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Union, explained that the selection of an entirely new team was not due to dissatisfaction with the second Test ~team, but to t\e selectors' desire to obtain the best team available ,in i New Zealand for the English tour next year. The twenty players .are as follow :— BACKS. \ M'Lean (Bay of Plenty). Fairbrother (South C'aterbury). Morgan' (Otago). Lucas (Auckland). Stewart (Otago).- - "Doc" Nicholls (Wellington). Peiwai (Hawkes Bay). H., E. Nicholls (Wellington). St George (Canterbury). -- - Cooke (Auckland). FORWARDS. Porter (Wellington). Swain (Wellington). Irvine (Hawkes Bay). , Tunnicliffe (Buller). Cupples (Bay of Plenty).; R. Masters (Canterbury). R. Stewart (South Canteibury). Ormond (Hawkes Bay). Parker Canterbury).' White (Southland). The present intention regarding the preparation of the New Zealand team for the third Test is to assemble the players in Wellington to-morro-.v Week.
