SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
; WAITAKA, This Day. > An incident connected with ah oatbreak of fire which occurred at 1.30 yesterday morning in a building known as the old auction mart, situated in the business block, was the finding of a sack smelling strongly of kerosene in the lining of the wall. The first-comer poured a bucket of water on the flames through a broken outside plank at the seat of the fire, thus accounting for the sack not, burning, and the police, were able in the morning to secure it only partly burnt. The building has been unoccupied for some time, and is insured for £300. The United Brigade averted total destruction. . ,
