TIMARU, 2nd SeptemKsr. South Canterbury opposed th e Canterbury touring team yesterday. There was '.'a. largo attendance of spectators, the game resulting in a win for South Canterbury by I goal to nil. The match throughout was closely contested, many of the finer points of the game being shown. Canterbury played a. clever, open passing game, the hali-backs and forwards showing a fine understanding. The local team . showed , splendid .offensive work, and- scored from a penalty given for a foul, against the goalkeeper in tho closing ■■ minutes- The play throughout ehowed that Canterbury were tho superior side frotfi.a. football point of view, .but their.finishing work was upset by'the .worrying, tactics of tho South Canterbury.backs and halfbacks.. ■ . .
