:s The Eastbourne Borough Council met on IWday, under the chairmanship Of the Mayor {Mr. F. H. Mather). The jbllowing were also present:—Counciljftra:H. W. Shortt, O. Hull-Brown, H. ;M. Jones, E. A.. Ejawson, C. Bowden, p. Hartridge, and^C> A. Marquis. *i n? general manager's report stated that ■. tjie -usual maintenance, work had been done on the main road, and tree'jlahting .injTario'us parts had baen un-dertaken-and carried out by various residents interested. The weather, however, had been unsuitable aud most of the work had .been carried pat by council employees. Children attending the Muritai School had planted Norfolk Island pines on the Marine parade. Trees had .now been planted in Muritai Park. Marine parade, arid Kauri, Hinau, Totara; Eona, and Nikau streets, as well ■is in gaps on the main road and in Orua •treet. ■■ - ■ J: Building permits issued for the past month totalled £1392, and. from' Ist April/to date the permits issued were for buildings estimated to cost £11,020.
