- Leave of absence for the remainder of the session was granted to the Hon. E. W. Alison, on account of illness.
The Hon. Dr. A. K. Newman gave notice to ask the Government at what date the electricity supply from Mangahao is likely to be efficient in Wellington.
Replying to a question asked % the Hon. G. M. Thomson, as to what progress the Railway Department has made in carrying out experiments in the use of pulverised coal on locomotives, the Leader of the Council (the Hon. Sir Francis Bell).said that the matter is still under consideration, and that the DeSartment is in communication with the lovernments of other countries on. the question. The Hon. W. H. M'lntyre asEed whether the Government would call for tenders for the completion of the Buller Gorge railway (Westport-Inarigahua), as had been done in connection with the East Coaat railway between Tauranga and Katikati.
Sir Francis Bell said the matter would receive consideration from the Government.
The Dairy Produce Export Control Bill was read a second time and referred to the Agricultural and Stock Committee. The Council thereupon adjourned at 10.38 a.m. until 2.30 p.m.
