WESTPORT-STOCKTON MINERS RESUME MONDAY

The strike at the Westport-Stockton coal company famine at Ngakawau, as VT \f I°} 2^° men hay* idle for the past ten days, ended to-day. The men ceased work on 14th August owmg; to certain conditions prevailing in the mine, and claimed in respect of Several wet places a four-hour' day and a wage of £1 per day. * To-day as the result of negotiations conducted Jby Mr. B. L. Hammond, on behalf of the company, and Mr Balder stono, on behalf of the men. a settlement was reached whereby the men will resume work on Monday. The wages and hours will remain the same, but Under the settlement arrived at the com pany is required to provide roofing material and oil coats vi respect of certain 'placsu ju the miue.
