CITY OF TOLEDO

AMERICAN REPRESENTATION'

DESTROYED.

The city of Toledo,' Spain, was almost totally 1 demolished in a few hours by :a gang of ■ energetic carpenters employed at the Pickford-Fairbanks studios,- states the "San Francisco Chronicle.'' All of that portion of the city on the hill was: completely .destroyed, but there was no loss of life and very little .property damaged despite ths wholesale destruction of buildings. As a matter of fact, most of the structures were packed in specially made containers after 'being torn down and placed in the ■ Pickford storeroom, where it will remain until little Mary does, another Spanish picture. With the striking of the Toledo set, howiver, there passed from public view what is believed to be th« most novel bit of motion picture construction work ever set up. Tourists from all parts of the United States, at the direction of the Los Angeles Chamber ■'. of Commerce, made special trips on the street cars, which pass the Pickford-Fairbanks studios, just to catch sight of.the old Spanish city perched p'n the roof of the hugs stage.

Counting all camera angles, Toledo covered an area of five acres.
