MRS. BALDWIN'S SUGGESTION

HOW TO HELP HOSPITALS,

"In good health," said the Prime Minister's wife, "we have a precious gift that is God-given, a possession valuable beyond all wealth, and we 'owe it to ourselves to help, so far as it lies in our power; those who have not this inestimable blessing. Let -us then make our thank-offering, each and all of us, for every week we enjoy good health, by contributing as.we are able to the hospitals in whose hands the money will be. expended towards alleviating the pain of those who suffer, in. soothing the agony of those who are dying, in healing those who are sick, and in speeding the convalescence of those on the road to recovery. It may be a penny a week from some of us, it may.be a pound a week from others, it may be ten pounds, twenty pounds, fifty pounds, or a hundred pounds from somebody able to subscribe largely. But- whether it be a penny or a hundred pounds, let there be underlying the gift a spirit of thank-of-fering for the good health the giver enjoys, a tribute of thankfulness for a gracious gift.

"The Premiership never came into our scheme of life at all," Mrs. Baldwin told the interviewer. "I am proud to believe that the warmth of his welcome to the- position of Prime Minister is due to one fact in particular—that he has never sought to serve his own interests, that he has always had that strength of love for his fellow-men that I have tried to indicate as one of the necessities of human progress, and I am sure that throughout his term of office, be it short or be it long, he will serve unsparingly what he holds to be the highest interests' of the nation."
