KEEP THE CITY CLEAN
TO TJB . EDITOR. Sir,—ln view of-,the fact that Wellington is to have another Health Week campaign, and that citizens are to be asked to co-operate with the City Council in keeping their town clean, I would like to ask why m Kelburn the eounoil permits •°PeiJ rubbish carts to be used, instead of those with covers, as used in the city, ihe result of this is that on a windy day rubbish and filthy papers are blown off' the open carts and into the faces of pedestrians. Also, at the entrance to the Kelburn School (the only entrance at present) is a tip, supposed to be for clean nlimg-in,but, as a matter of fact, a great deal of rubbish is deposited there, which gives off a. most offensive smell, especially in damp weather. This tip has to be passed by every child entering the school grounds. Surely these are serious matters for the Health authorities-.—l am, etc., • KELBURN RESIDENT. 24th August.
