'The annual general meeting of the Institute of Accountants of New Zealand wasTheld on .Thursday at the Accountancy Chambers, Wellington. Mr. H. Bicknell. (Christchurch), president, was in. the chair, and a large attendance of members was preserit: The. annual report stated that during ith'e year thirty new- associates have been .admitted to the membership of the institute: Ihe membership at the" beginning of-the- year-was'4ls, consisting of 220. fellows and 195 associates. Special reference is made to the death of the first president of the institute, Mr.. D. ;T: .Stuart, of ■Wellington;' "A grant' of £60 had.been made to the. various students' societies far the purchase of books; A sum of £75 had been, paid as. a subsidy to'llie'grant of the Society of Accountants to th 6: University College: .', The report and balance-sheet were ■ adopted.;-• ' '•'.'.'■ v;v-v 1,..- ' .

The president delivered an address, in I •which he referred-to the wonderful vitality of the institute and the high regard in which it is held, which he put down to the faithful adherence with which the high standards credited''by; the foundation members were observed'and maintained, -' .
