LONDON, 15th August. A syndicate of British sportsmen, headed by Tex O'Rourke, American boxing 'organiser, as adviser, is searching Britain for a possible world's boxing champion. They Have already collected four promising young heavyweights into a training camp. O'Rourke hopes to have a candidate fit to tackle the British champion (Joe Beckett) within a year.

In July it was reported by the '"Daily Mail" that Mr. O'Rourke had selected a Bristol policeman to train to win back England's boxing prestige. His choice was said to be Constable Henvy M'Cran, of the Clifton (Bristol) Division of police. M'Cran is 22 years of age 6ft 3in, 15sfc 71b, chest 44in, 26in waist, and 77in reach. Constabla M'Cran, who is the son of a clergyman, is an Oxford University man, and has served in the Clifton Division for about twelve months.
