LONDON, 15th August.
Reports from Berlin indicate that although spasmodic outbreaks continue, the crisis is ended, at any rate, for the present. Herr Stresemann is infusing an optimistic spirit, and even the Paris Press finds little that is objectionable in his Reichstag speech.
The "Daily Chronicle's" Berlin correspondent reports that Herr Stresemann's optimism is proving infectious. The mark has improved, and people are surprised to see prices falling. The Government promised to take strong steps to increase supplies and reduce prices. Conferences are being arranged with agriculturists and industrialists with a view to speeding up production and transport. The position of the new Government has been strengthened by the general friendly reception in the foreign Press. Herr Cuno is likely to be the next German Ambassador tx> the United States, as Dr. Wiedieldt will be retiring shortly.
